NFL to Use Ascent Media to Manage Technical Services for Satellite TV
The National Football League has selected Ascent Media Group (formerly Liberty Livewire) to provide technical support for the distribution of its satellite TV subscription package, NFL Sunday Ticket for the next five years.
Ascent Media will provide downlink, commercial integration, digital distribution, signal coordination, uplink and monitoring services for the Sunday Ticket. They also designed and built a studio control room for NFL Sunday Ticket host segments in Ascent Media Network Services' Stamford, Conn.-based production and distribution facility.
Ascent Media receives NFL game feeds via C- and Ku-band satellite antennas and fiber and then routes the feeds into an integration area. They use 15 game-integration stations to insert commercial, interstitial and live studio content for the Sunday Ticket. All recorded programming is stored on a server and independently available to any of the game stations. Ascent Media also provides NFL transmissions distributed in analog to DirecTV, DirecTV Latin America and C-Band subscribers as well as cable systems in Canada.
