Japan's NHK is using Thales Angenieux’s CineStyle lenses for high-quality HDTV production.
Following comprehensive evaluation and comparison, NHK’s Production Operations Centre (Drama Programs Engineering) decided to purchase the manufacturer’s Optimo 12x9.7 HD lens “because in addition to very precise mechanics, the Angenieux optics provided an outstanding optical resolution.”
The Optimo 12x9.7 HD lens features a new optical design based on original 35mm lenses. The resolution of the lens is far superior of the quality of any HD camera currently available on the market.
The lens offers an extremely fast aperture speed f/1.4 (T1.6); excellent contrast and color reproduction; a constant level of optical performance all across its entire zoom range, at any position; and no ramping or breathing.
Thales Angenieux has delivered about 30 units of its HD CineStyle lenses in Japan. Thales is an international electronics and systems group, serving defense, aerospace, services and security markets.
