Solid State Logic’s MTP Digital Production Console hit the road this spring as a key element of National Mobile Television’s (NMT) newly built HD4 mobile production unit. The new truck, which is NMT’s 4th high-definition unit and their first true multi-format HD facility, has already been booked as part of a multi-year contract extension between NMT and ABC Sports.
To deliver the audio portion of these broadcasts, NMT selected a 96-channel SSL MTP console with dual fader paths, 120 digital inputs, 104 analog inputs and 60 microphones. The console, which features an ergonomically efficient, “analog style” dedicated control surface, provides fully digital signal processing and integrated routing and is capable of multi-channel operation including simultaneous 5.1 and stereo outputs. Each of the console’s 96 channels includes 4-band EQ, filters and full dynamics, as well as traditional small and large fader paths.
Under the terms of NMT’s agreement with ABC, HD4 will be used on “Monday Night Football.” The agreement also provides NMT with exclusive facility responsibilities for all ABC Sports remote productions, including college football, PGA Tour events and ABC’s scheduled telecast of Super Bowl XXXX in January 2006.
The truck boasts the largest amount of interior square footage of any television truck in the U.S., as well as an all-aluminum body and frame. HD4 utilizes high-tech graphite composite materials for its floors and walls to reduce weight and improve the insulation capability of the trailer.
