NTIA approves first converter boxes for DTV coupon program
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has approved the first digital-to-analog converter boxes under its Convert Box Coupon Program, the agency said last week.
The two models from Digital STREAM Technology support all 18 ATSC digital television formats. The company estimates the DigitalSTREAM D2A1D10 and DigitalSTREAM D2A1D20 will have a suggested retail price of $69.99.
NTIA, which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, released and other information about the DTV transition during an expo in Washington, D.C. The agency also announced retailer RadioShack intends to participate in the coupon program and promote consumer education about the DTV transition.
