NTV-Plus, the leading direct-to-home (DTH) satellite service provider in Russia and the Ukraine with more than 550,000 subscribers, has deployed Harmonic's DiviCom Electra 7000 HD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoders for its new HD service.
NTV-Plus is also using Harmonic's Electra 1000 SD MPEG-2 encoders and DiviTrackIP distributed statistical multiplexing to compress and deliver locally encoded and remultiplexed SD video programming.
The Electra 7000 multiservice, multichannel HD H.264 encoder supports up to four full HD resolution programs and in parallel provides four low-resolution channels for other services, such as picture-in-picture (PiP), enhanced program guides or promotional channels.
