Nuera Communications has joined forces with Wave7 Optics to deliver a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service for Chariton Valley Telecom Corp. & Telephone Corp. of Missouri. The phone company services more than 8,000 local access lines within 18 exchanges in rural north central Missouri.
Nuera’s RDT-8g broadband access gateway and Wave7’s Last Mile Link (LML) fiber optic access technologies work together to deliver voice services over an advanced fiber network. Chariton Valley leverages this broadband system to offer the “triple play”—voice, video and data — to homes and businesses in the rural communities it serves.
Chariton Valley operates as a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) and incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) and uses the FTTH technology in both operations. “We have an aggressive rollout strategy. With this deployment we will have the most advanced network in the state — Macon will be the first to have a complete fiber-to-the-home network, with our Bevier, Callao, New Cambria and Bucklin exchanges to follow closely behind, following our master plans to implement network upgrades,” said Bill Biere, general manager of Chariton Valley.
The Wave7 LML complies with Ethernet and IP standards, and is an advanced optical access system that provides all traditional “carrier-grade” telephone services (including fax), high-speed data (e.g., Internet service), and both analog and digital video (including IP streaming video) at symmetrical speeds up to 500Mb/s. The Nuera RDT-8 gateway, installed by service providers around the world, provides advanced voice processing capabilities and high system availability required for primary and secondary line services.
