The New York Giants has purchased the latest HD video production equipment from Sony to use at its new workout facility for training as well as to create content that will be displayed on video and LED screens during games, in video features and podcasts for the team Web site, interviews with players and coaches, original programming, highlight videos, specials, PSAs and promotional spots.
The facilities will include a new all-digital HD control room that features a Sony MFS-2000 HD production switcher, several HDAM decks and LUMA LCD monitors. Camera crews will use Sony PDW-700 XDCAM HD camcorders in the field and EFP style, while a new studio will feature Sony HDC-1400 studio cameras. The MPEG-2 HD422 signal type will serve as the Giants’ “house” recording format. The Giants will also archive material on optical discs, which hold 23GB of storage capacity.
The new training facility, which will open in June within the Meadowlands Sports Complex where the Giants play home games, will also feature several of Sony’s VPL-FX52 LCD projectors, which will be used by the coaching staff to review game video, analyze practices and critique footage of opponents.
The team’s entertainment group will produce in-game video for the current Giants Stadium as well as for the new state-of-the-art stadium being built for the 2010 season.
