Olympics Coming to DirecTV VOD
Through an agreement with NBC Universal, DirecTV will offer 10 VOD titles each week from the Summer Olympic games in Beijing.
The programs will be available on DirecTV on Demand, a new VOD service available to customers with the DirecTV Plus HD DVR or R22 DVR receiver.
The offerings will include athlete features and Beijing previews and will be available through the end of the Olympics in both standard-definition and HD.
NBCU will produce more than 500 titles before and during the games
To access the VOD content, customers with VOD-enabled DVRs can tune to channel 1008 or go to the home of DirecTV on Demand (Channel 1000)
“NBCU’s 2008 Beijing Olympic Games content is an exciting addition to our growing DirecTV on Demand lineup and a great opportunity to generate anticipation for the uniquely enhanced Olympic coverage that NBC plans to distribute to the subscribers of DirecTV this summer,” said Eric Shanks, executive vice president of DirecTV Entertainment.
