Optimum Lightpath Launches Broadcast Video Transport
Broadband service provider Optimum Lightpath announced the launch and availability of its Broadcast Video Transport (BVT), the newest addition to its Metro Ethernet Intelligent Transport Services portfolio.
Optimum Lightpath is a business telecommunications services division of Cablevision Systems Corp.
According to the company, BVT is MEF9 and MEF14 certified for service with dedicated access termination, guaranteed bandwidth, quality of service and network path protection.
The Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) is a global industry alliance that develops technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide. Members include telecommunications service providers, cable operators, MSOs, network equipment providers, test vendors, labs and software manufacturers, semiconductor vendors and testing organizations. MEF9 certifies service standards, MEF14 certifies traffic management specifications.
Customer benefits listed by the provider include point-to-point Ethernet connections, guaranteed network reliability, dedicated bandwidth, simplified pricing, award winning customer service and an online customer care portal.
Optimum Lightpath describes its Metro Ethernet network as “one of the most advanced fiber-optic networks in the country, spanning more than 2,700 route miles throughout northern New Jersey, Connecticut and the New York metropolitan area.”
