Panasonic Launches Low-Cost P2 HD Camera
(Feb. 12, 2009) NEW YORK: Panasonic highlighted its NAB show plans this week with the introduction of a new low-cost, professional P2 camcorder.
The AJ-HPX300, with 10-bit, 4:2:2 image processing and exchangeable lenses, will become available in March for $10,700. The imager incorporates advanced technology to acquire full native resolution, HD images, while minimizing flare and chromatic aberrations.
The camera uses AVC-Intra 100 and -Intra 50 compression, records individual frame images in several formats and handles 1080i, 720p and 1080p frame rates. It can also be configured as a studio camera, and comes equipped with a terminal for an optional Panasonic remote control. A customized studio configuration system for the AJ-HPX300 will be priced below $10,000 and released later this year.
The 8-pound camera consumes 18 watts and features a widescreen LCOS color viewfinder and a widescreen LCD color monitor. (Courtesy of TV Technology)
