Philippines GMA Network upgrades Harris automation
Harris has upgraded an existing H-Class D-Series playout automation platform at GMA Network to enable the major Philippines broadcaster to increase productivity. The system will support the broadcaster’s expanding international channel, GMA Pinoy. Initially launched in Japan, the United States, Guam, Malaysia and the Middle East, GMA Pinoy now has a base of more than 100,000 subscribers.
Designed as an automation solution for direct-to-home satellite delivery services platforms, cable multiple system operators and global and national commercial TV networks, the Harris D-Series playout automation application emphasizes workflow efficiency combined with high system resilience and fault tolerance.
With complete scalability and redundancy, the D-Series application allows stations to manage complex, multichannel operations, while employing a small staff. If required, the D-Series application’s scalability would allow GMA to expand up to 1000 channels. In addition, D-Series users can reconfigure and upgrade their systems while remaining “on air.”
