Photonics West: Holoeye to Demo HD Spatial Light Modulator
Holoeye Photonics AG plans to unveil its next-gen of spatial light modulators with HD resolution at Photonics West 2006 next week. The company said in a statement its new LC-R 1080 Spatial Light Modulator is based on a reflective LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) microdisplay with WUXGA/HD resolution of 1920 x 1200. (A spatial light modulator is an electro-optical device that can convert an incoherent image to a coherent likeness.)
The spatial light modulator can modulate coherent and incoherent light spatially in both amplitude and phase. Applications range from imaging and projection, over programmable phase masks, beam-splitting and beam-steering, to holographic applications. Holoeye also provides services and products in diffractive optics and micro-display components in higher quantities for original equipment markets.
Photonics West 2006 is Jan. 24-26 in San Jose, Calif.
