Pinnacle Snags Deal with DirecTV, Upgrades Liquid
Pinnacle's DekoCast was chosen by DirecTV to drive the on-air visuals for its NFL Sunday Ticket games. The system provides on-screen information, such as scores and stats from games other than what's being viewed. DirecTV worked with Pinnacle to develop an application that enables DekoCast to harvest the live NFL data stream from every game simultaneously. The data is then turned into real-time updates that play out to air. Dekocast squeezes the live video image to about 75 percent of its normal size to create space for real-time stats and red-zone alerts from other games in progress.
In other news, Pinnacle debuted an update to its Liquid video editing systems - Liquid 5.6. Features include: integrated DVD authoring for the creation, preview and editing of DVD/VCD/SVCD titles with motion menus and links from the 5.6 timeline; MPEG encoder; Rapid Capture, which stops and starts digitization while jogging through content; and MXF file format support for the exchanging of MPEG files.
