Political Conventions Go High-Def
HDNet and Charlotte, N.C.'s WJZY-HD will provide live HDTV coverage of the upcoming Democratic and Republican National conventions.
"While other networks continue to scale back their coverage of the national conventions, HDNet will be ramping up to show their viewers the main events during the week as well as providing full coverage of each convention to any cable or satellite providers who wish to make all of it available to their customers," Mark Cuban, co-founder and president of HDNet said.
HDNet's coverage is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. EDT Monday-Wednesday and at 8:00 p.m.EDT on Thursday at each convention.
WJZY-HD's coverage will begin at 4:00 p.m. starting Monday July 26 and continue until midnight on July 29.
"The process by which a political party selects its nominee for President of The United States should be seen by as wide an audience as possible," said WJZY-TV Vice President & General Manager Will Davis. "Our signal will be available free to everyone with a digital receiver, including homes without cable or satellite."
