Portland Trail Blazers add HD graphics for arena display
Rose Garden Arena, home to the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers, has installed Chyron's HD/SD-switchable HyperX2 graphics system and XClyps multiformat production clip server.
With installation planned to correspond with the start of the NBA basketball season in October, the Rose Garden is using the systems to provide HD graphics for the Trail Blazers' new in-house 1080i big-screen display during games. The Chyron systems are linked to the NBA DTVI interface for sophisticated player stats. The HyperX2 graphics engine can simultaneously manipulate dozens of 3-D layers of text, logos textures and movie objects in real time. Chyron's 3-D graphics on the Rose Garden big screen range from happy birthday messages to sponsorship logos. The XClyps is being used for the TD replay move as well as other fan motivational videos.
