Manhattan-based post-production house PostWorks recently purchased a Teranex Star-up up-converter with noise reduction for use with projects using the 24P format.
PostWorks is currently using the converter on "A Decade Under The Influence," a documentary on films that changed Hollywood. Star-up will perform up-converting and noise reducing on the source material to produce a 1080p24 master.
Star-up also offers variable aspect ratio conversion. The system integrates PixelMotion deinterlacing, colorspace conversion for correct image color during up-conversion and image resizing capabilities. The software-based application runs on a Teranex video computer and will support future formats and features through upgrades.
