Former FCC Chairman Michael Powell says he never saw a recently surfaced report from 2004 that says non-group-owned TV stations produce more news than group-owned facilities.
A Powell assistant told the Associated Press he did not order the document to be destroyed, as an ex-FCC staffer has alleged.
California Democrat Barbara Boxer surprised Kevin Martin by asking about the report during his renomination hearing last week before the Senate Commerce Committee.
