British support services company VT Communications (VTC) is providing consultancy services to the public broadcaster in Qatar.
Qatar Radio & Television Corp. (?????? ??????? ??????? ??????????, QRTC) is looking to realign its infrastructure in response to audience requirements in the region.
The consultancy contract cover both existing analog technology and new digital systems. Under the terms of the agreement, VTC will initially conduct site surveys — scheduled for mid-2008 — and handle planning work.
QRTC currently has analog FM, VHF and UHF TV facilities in the capital, Doha, but it intends to relocate to a new central transmission facility in central Qatar. The new facility will provide transmission capabilities for analog FM radio and analog VHF and UHF television, as well as T-DAB and DVB-T networks.
