Recording tape manufacturer Quantegy is offering for sale a number of vintage analog and digital recorders formerly belonging to the 3M company. Part of the assets of the 3M magnetic division were acquired by Quantegy 10 years ago when 3M ceased magnetic media production. Available hardware includes a number of two-track and multitrack tape machines from manufacturers such as Sony, Studer, Mitsubishi and 3M. Sony PCM-1620 and -1630 processors are also available.
In liquidating these inventory assets, Quantegy will entertain any reasonable offers. The firm notes that this may be an opportunity to match out-of-production hardware with facilities and users in search of backups and salvage parts. A number of the available machines are said to show little evidence of wear on the recording heads. However, all machines will be sold as-is and without a guarantee of any kind.
