Quincy Newspapers select Harris transmission to upgrade TV stations
All QNI stations are adding the Harris Apex digital television exciter to their transmitters
Harris Corporation’s Broadcast Communications Division has been selected by Quincy Newspapers (QNI) for DTV transmission equipment upgrades at 10 of its stations, including flagship WGEM-TV/DT in Quincy, Illinois.
Other QNI television stations getting Harris upgrades are: WSJV-TV/DT, Elkhart, Indiana; WVVA-TV/DT, Bluefield, West Virginia; WAOW TV/DT, Wausau, Wisconsin; WQOW-TV/DT, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; WYOW-TV/DT, Eagle River, Wisconsin; WXOW, Lacrosse, Wisconsin; KTTC-TV/DT, Rochester, Minnesota; WREX-TV/DT, Rockford, Illinois; and WKOW, Madison, Wisconsin.
QNI stations WGEM, WSJV, WVVA, WAOW, WQOW, WYOW, and WXOW are upgrading their 1.8 kilowatt DHD8 model DiamondCD transmitters to 7.25 kilowatt DHD30 models. All of the QNI stations are adding the Harris Apex digital television exciter to their transmitters.
By upgrading their power, the QNI stations are enhancing and augmenting their digital signal coverage areas in preparation for the FCC-scheduled analog phase-out in 2006.
