Quincy Newspapers stations enhance news workflow efficiency
Five Quincy Newspapers TV stations have begun moving news items between stations using Pathfire Direct.
Coupled with Pathfire DMG Server Connect for News, Pathfire Direct provides a seamless file-based workflow at the stations. Items can be moved between locations easily without using satellite space or microwave links, and handed off to downstream editing systems.
WKOW-TV, one of the Quincy stations with the new system, is enjoying the benefit of an improved news workflow, said station chief engineer Steve Zimmerman. The system has given the entire newsroom the ability to get video from around the region. With the new approach, journalists can start the editing process without ever touching a piece of videotape or dealing with video-based infrastructure like video routers, he said.
Among its media holdings, Quincy Newspapers currently owns 12 TV stations.
