Raycom Deploys Omneon Media Server System
Raycom Media's KFVS-TV has deployed Calif.-based Omneon's Spectrum media server system with Sundance Digital's FastBreak Automation for ingest, storage and playout of syndicated programming and also for recording, commercial and promotional material. The CBS affiliate serves the Cape Girardeau and Paduca communities in Missouri.
Raycom Media Vice President Dave Folsom said that the Omneon Spectrum media server acts as a single source, with six inputs and six outputs, for all recorded material.
The Omneon Spectrum system at KFVS has 1.7 TB capacity for roughly 360 hours of storage. The FastBreak Automation system combines SQL-based database management with frame-accurate control of the Omneon server along with the facility's switchers, routers and peripherals, providing control over the broadcast transmission process for KFVS and Raycom UPN affiliates, WQWQ and WQTV.
Omneon's server system is built on an open architecture that supports third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving and collaborative production.
