Raycom Media to share files among 27 stations with Oasis
Twenty-seven Raycom Media stations have acquired the BitCentral Oasis file sharing program to streamline file sharing among the stations.
The acquisition follows a Raycom Media purchase in 2006 of several BitCentral Precis news production systems. Thirteen Raycom Media stations now operate with the Precis and at least eight more are expected to be installed this year.
Oasis will allow Raycom Media stations to share content and do so in a way that requires little time for training or maintenance, said Raycom Media senior VP of technology David Folsom. The system makes it practical to share video content regionally among stations, he said.
Oasis will integrate into Raycom Media's exiting network infrastructures and move media in MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 formats.
