Real, ABC News Ink Exclusive Streaming Deal
RealNetworks recently inked a deal with ABC News to be the only content subscription service to offer ABC News Live, a 24-hour live news service that launched in March, to its SuperPass subscribers.
The service also includes video news content for ABC News On Demand as well as for inclusion in new RealOne subscription services in international markets, which is slated for expansion. The network also plans to collaborate with RealNetworks on new mobile content services.
ABC News, which has been part of RealNetwork's subscription services since August 2000, continues to expand its content and programming on the Internet. The launch of RealOne SuperPass in 2001 featured World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and Nightine. In the spring, ABC News added ABC News Live and the "virtual control room," a quad screen format which provides Internet viewers with four live simultaneous video feeds. The network most recently added hourly news briefs.
