Record-holder ‘Knight” Stays Atop Blu-ray Sales
“The Dark Knight,” the recent theater blockbuster and latest sequel in the Batman series, continues to lead in sales of Blu-ray Disc titles for the third straight week. “Knight” has sold more Blu-ray packaged content than any other movie title, to date, and broke the one-day Blu-ray sales when it moved an estimated 600,000 copies on its video disc release date.
Five of the Top 10 sales were Universal releases. Sales for the week ending Dec. 27, according to Rentrak:
1. “The Dark Knight” (Warner Bros.)
2. “Death Race” (Universal)
3. “The Mummy: Tomb of the Emperor’s Dragon” (Universal)
4. “Wanted” (Universal)
5. “Iron Man” (Paramount)
6. “Hancock” (Sony)
7. “Mama Mia!”(Universal)
8. “Wall-E” (Disney)
9. “Burn After Reading” (Universal)
10. “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” (Disney)
