Rembrandt Lawsuit Could Affect DTV Transition
By TVTechnology
published Rembrandt Technologies, a Philadelphia company that specializes in acquiring patents that show potential for commercialization, has filed suit in U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Del., against several major U.S. television networks and cable operators.
The company is charging an infringement of a company-owned patent that controls part of the technology used in the ATSC digital television standard.
Rembrandt is demanding hefty license fees from users of the patent, which could have an impact on the conversion to digital television transmission in the United States.
