Rental companies select Telecast's CopperHead for TV production

The newly redesigned CopperHead Cine camera-mounted fiber optic transceiver from Telecast Fiber Systems is finding a wide range of users, according to broadcast rental equipment providers Bexel Systems and Wexler Video. The upgraded CopperHead Cine, a.k.a., the “Skinny Cine,” provides users with a portable, long-distance signal transmission solution that is well-suited for varying production demands.

The newest version of the CopperHead Cine transceiver acts as a camera control unit and communications link for HD/SDI portable cameras.

Burbank, CA.-based Wexler Video has recently rented the CopperHead Cine to support production of shows such as "The Bachelor," "The Bernie Mac Show," "Todd TV" and "A Family Affair." By enabling operators to repurpose ENG cameras for use in a studio environment, the CopperHead Cine allows Wexler Video clients to work with cameras that are already part of their equipment arsenals.

The newest version of the CopperHead Cine transceiver acts as a camera control unit and communications link for HD/SDI portable cameras. With the CopperHead Cine, users can use a single two-fiber cable to control the camera remotely and transmit broadcast-quality video and audio signals at distances of over three miles from the production van or control center. The CopperHead Cine offers all of the features of the company's HD/SDI CopperHead, with four additional return audio channels for HD and 24p production.

The new CopperHead Cine will be on display at NAB2004 booth # SU9824 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
