Report finds mobile, online TV management key to IPTV success
New cross-platform services, such as mobile and online TV management, will be key in securing IPTV market share and as a means for operators to increase incremental revenues, according to new research.
The "IMS Attitudes Report 2007," sponsored by triple play customer premises provider Tilgin and conducted by YouGov, identifies demand for a range of new information, communication and entertainment services placing the TV at the heart of the digital home.
The survey found 27 percent of 18- to 44-year-old consumers would like to have remote TV management, where a digital video recorder could be controlled online or via a mobile phone.
The research also indicated significant demand for a range of other converged services, including:
- 22 percent would like to see incoming phone caller ID information on the TV screen;
- 20 percent would like to store and share photos and videos through their IPTV service;
- 19 percent would be interested in TV-based instant messaging and e-mail;
