Report identifies HD as factor in ad revenue growth
The prevalence of HDTV is one factor that will boost advertising on free-to-air channels worldwide, according to the newly released PricewaterhouseCoopers “Global Entertainment and Media Outlook: 2007-2011” report.
The report, issued last week, offers a comprehensive look at the global entertainment and media (E&M) industry.
When it comes to network television, multichannel advertising will be the fastest-growing sector in each region of the world, buoyed by large increases in digital households, it said. HDTV, new channels and economic expansion will boost advertising on free-to-air channels. Globally, spending will increase from $172 billion in 2006 to $228 billion in 2011 at a 5.8 percent compound annual growth rate.
The overall E&M industry will experience sustained growth and will increase at a 6.4 percent CAGR to $2 trillion in 2011, according to the report.
