Offering a fiber-based, dual-ring network architecture, Riedel’s Artist system was used during the Summer Olympics telecasts from Athens.
At IBC2005 Riedel Communications will introduce an ergonomically designed digital two-channel belt-pack that works with its Artist Digital Matrix intercom system, called the C2.
Artist systems are designed as matrix platforms for intercom and the routing of analog and digital audio and TCP/IP data. The fiber-based, dual-ring network architecture offers a decentralized infrastructure for live audio and talkback. IP routing can be used to remote control mic-preamps or multi-track recorders, DMX lighting systems and other devices.
The C2, capable of daisy chaining, is noise and hum-free with broadcast quality audio. Controls and connectors are protected in the rubber covers on both ends of the aluminum-based unit. A 4-pin XLR headset connector is provided as standard on the bottom of the unit and a 5-pin headset connector for split-ear operation is available as an option.
The C2 belt-pack connects to the Artist matrix via the C88 matrix interface. It also provides the power for the belt-packs over CAT5 cabling that is found in numerous venues. The C88 is a 19in/1RU unit that converts eight two-channel CAT5 matrix ports to eight powered belt-pack lines on Neutrik RJ-45 EtherCon connectors.
