Royal Academy of Engineering honors Ray Dolby

published Ray Dolby, founder and chairman of Dolby Laboratories, has been awarded an honorary Fellowship to the Royal Academy of Engineering in London.
Both the Duke of Kent and the Academy's President, Lord Broers, were present to welcome Dolby and 36 other new fellows to the Academy.
Dolby contributed significantly to the progress of the recording industry with a noise reduction system that dramatically lowers background noise and hiss added by the recording process. His system eliminates the side effects inherent in previous attempts at noise reduction.
