RTNDA Updates Its Name
Moving with the times, the Radio-Television News Directors Association has become the Radio Television Digital News Association. For the acronym-philes among us, that’s RTDNA, which will no doubt trip up our tongues the first few times after years of saying RTNDA.
The sister foundation also gets a name change, to the Radio Television Digital News Foundation.
The trade organization debuted a new logo to go along with the name change, which is the second in the organization’s history. Founded in 1946 as the National Association of Radio News Directors, it became RTNDA in 1952.
This change is meant to reflect how news organizations are approaching news coverage and how the trade organization represents the industry. The group has services “for all electronic journalists, including the newest members of our newsrooms working on the digital platforms,” stated Chairman Stacey Woelfel in announcing the change at the RTDNA Awards Dinner
RTDNA says it also has debuted new programs and products including health insurance, international travel protection insurance and dental insurance for its members, monthly webinars and retail discounts.
