RTSI relies on Fischer Connectors for first HD studio
Italian-language Swiss TV channel RTSI is relying on Fischer Connectors to manage the connections and cable terminations for its first HDTV studio conversion.
In addition to high-performance camera connection technology for the studio, Fischer Connectors provided a complete, integrated service, including customized consulting, cable assembly, on-site installation and training.
The studio took five months to complete and will be operational in September. Fischer Connectors’ involvement began with an initial briefing and ended with the final testing of 70 connectors and 820ft of installed cable. Fischer Connectors also provided a full training session to enable RTSI’s broadcast engineers to assemble and maintain their own cables.
The new studio will be used to produce daily shows in HD. Among its tasks will be production of sports programming related to the upcoming Euro 2008 Football Cup and production of HD suisse, a new Swiss TV channel.
RTSI’s selection of Fischer Connectors for the studio project came after initial evaluation of the Fischer 1053 camera connector for its first HD OB van, which became operational at the beginning of this year. The 25-ton vehicle is equipped with eight Sony HDC-1500 cameras, all using Fischer 1053 fiber-optic connectors.
