Russia’s Channel One buys EVS news production
EVS has signed a contract to provide a tapeless news production system for Channel One Russia, headquartered in Moscow.
Channel One is replacing its tape-based infrastructure with a tapeless system that includes 80 browse workstations, 30 edit stations and four high/low resolution supervisor seats. EVS’s CleanEdit system will become the backbone of the new system.
The EVS devices will integrate with a newsroom computer system (NRCS) and Vizrt graphic devices. The facility plans to digitize its entire existing 14,000-hour library and build a new archive based on a Front Porch Digital DIVArchive system using digital data tapes under EVS control.
EVS’s CleanEdit provides an end-to-end solution for news production, offering faster than real-time ingest from XDCAM and P2 camcorders. Its open architecture technology takes in any DV, MPEG or MJPEG content and plays it out without any rendering. The integrated non-linear editor has a timeline interface.
