S4M delivers tapeless production system for German public broadcaster

German public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) has put into operation one of the largest installations of S4M´s Video Production Management System (VPMS).

S4M’s VPMS supports the management of digital video assets from acquisition and production to playout, distribution and archiving.

The project, dubbed Vernetzte Produktion NDR, which translates to “linked production NDR,” is an integrated solution that consists of several elements. VPMS is a key module that integrates with other systems and connects them to a consistent overall system.

For instance, Annova Systems’ Open Media newsroom systems, as well as several Final Cut Pro editing suites, were integrated in the production system. This way, TV editors can access and edit video material on their PC workstations and send VPMS-generated editing lists to the Final Cut Pro suites.

All TV control rooms in Hamburg are connected to VPMS, and programs such as “DAS!” and “Mein Nachmittag” are produced without tape.
