Salisbury University makes major commitment to HD for education
Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD, welcomed students back to campus in September and for the first time opened the doors of its Center for Integrated Media within the new Teacher Education and Technology Complex. The 3000sq-ft HD production studio is equipped with four native 1080i AK-HC3500 2/3in 3-CCD HD studio cameras. The HC3500 is equipped with image processing and color reproduction functions for high-quality 1080/59.94i and 1080/50i image acquisition. The university also purchased three AG-HPX500 P2 HD camcorders, used in studio configuration in the video demonstration studio; two AG-HVX200 P2 HD handheld camcorders; 30 BT series HD LCD monitors; 19 AJ-PCD20P five-slot P2 drives; several DVCPRO HD studio decks; and nine 42in and 50in plasma displays.
The mandate of the Center for Integrated Media is to enable students and faculty from many university programs to work collaboratively in classes and on projects involving digital media. Students from the video production, art, music, theater, dance and education academic programs are applying the theory and principles of their disciplines in the development of a variety of digital media products. Video production students are now able to write, direct and produce complete productions with access to the latest in HD technology.
