Samsung to introduce dual-format HD CD player, if necessary

published If a compromise between the HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc camps cannot be found to bring about a unified standards, Samsung Electronics plans to introduce a DVD player next year that will playback both.
A report in the Financial Times Deutschland quoted Choi Gee-sung, the company’s head of consumer electronics, as saying that Samsung would “welcome a unified standard.” However, if that’s not an option, the company will release a dual-HD-format player next year.
