San Jose Stations Digitize
San Jose, Calif. stations NBC11 and Telemundo 48 are going digital.
Some of the new digital broadcast facility equipment includes digital signal routing, media file server systems and NLE systems. From San Francisco news bureaus to San Jose newsrooms, employees are connected via fiber optic networks, keeping them linked even while 50 miles apart. The new broadcast center is double the size of the current station, totaling 83,000 square feet and can store more than 15,000GB of data.
Digital audio and video are dispersed through the facility by more than 220 miles of video and audio cable using approximately 35,000 connectors.
The stations are slated to move in November and news broadcasts from the new facility are scheduled for December.
