Telesat Canada filed a petition for a declaratory ruling with the FCC requesting the C- and Ku-band payloads on the Anik F3 satellite be added to the FCC Permitted Space Station List. Anik F will be located at 118.7 degrees West longitude.
Telesat requested a waiver of the requirement that space stations operating in the 4/6 GHz band be capable of switching polarization on ground command and the requirement that the ratio of on-axis polar gain to the cross-polar gain of the antenna in the assigned frequency band be at least 30 dB within its primary coverage area. Telesat also seeks a reduction or waiver of the requirement that non-U.S. licensed satellite that is not in orbit and operating must post a bond. See FCC Report SAT-00366 for more information.
