PanAmSat requested Special Temporary Authority (STA) to operate Galaxy 3R at 73.95 degrees West Longitude (WL) for an additional 180 days, commencing with the expiration of the initial 30-day period previously authorized as part of Galaxy 3R move from 111.0 degrees WL to 73.95 WL. PanAmSat said the STA is needed to maintain C-band capabilities in the vicinity of 74 degrees WL and that operations under the STA would be on a non-interference basis. The FCC granted PanAmSat's request for STA to operate Galaxy 3R at 73.95 degrees WL for 180 days after expiration of its previous STA (see above). The new STA authorizes PanAmSat "to conduct tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) operations necessary to drift the GALAXY 3R satellite call sign GAL-3R from its current location at 111.0 degrees W.L. to 73.95 degrees W.L. and maintain the satellite at 73.95 degrees W. L." The STA covers the period from Feb. 2, 2005 to August 1, 2005.
The FCC approved a request from the DIRECTV Group, Inc. to modify its authorization SAT-MOD-2004-614-00114, Call Sign S2191, to relocate its authorized orbital location from 103.05 degrees WL to 102.80 degrees WL. DIRECTV Group is now authorized to launch and operate its SPACEWAY-1 Ka-band satellite into the 102.80 degrees WL orbit location and use the 18.365-18.53 GHz, 18.57-18.735 GHz, 19.7-20.2 GHz, 28.36-28.525 GHz, 29.26-29.425 GHz, and 29.5-30.0 GHz frequency bands.
DIRECTV Group's request to modify its authorization for the SPACEWAY-2 Ka-band satellite to relocate it from 99.05 degree WL to 99.20 degree WL was also granted. Authorized frequencies bands are 18.365-18.53 GHz, 18.57-18.735 GHz, 19.7-20.2 GHz, 28.36-28.525 GHz, 29.26-29.425 GHz, and 29.5-30.0 GHz.
