Satellite Update - March 15, 2005
Intelsat LLC asked for authorization to move Intelsat 605 from 32.9 degrees East Longitude (EL) to 174.0 degrees EL. Intelsat plans to have the satellite at 174.0 degrees EL in March or April. It had been operating at 77.0 degrees WL under special temporary authorization (STA). Intelsat 605 uses the 3625-4200, 5850-6425, 10950-11200, 11450-11700, and 14000-14500 MHz frequency bands.
EchoStar Satellite LLC applied to modify its authorization for a geostationary Ka-band satellite at 97 degrees WL to specify tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) frequencies of 29.999 GHz (right hand circular polarization), 19.701 GHz (left hand circular) and 20.199 GHz (left-hand circular) as the telemetry frequencies. During the launch and transfer orbit operations, EchoStar requested 14.001 GHz and 14.003 GHz (both right hand circular) for command and 11.7055 GHz and 12.198 GHz (both left hand circular) for telemetry.
SES Americom requested STA to operate the AMC-15 Ka-band payload and Ku-band TT&C at 113.075 degrees WL. This is a slight offset from the authorized 113 degrees WL location and SES Americom says it is needed to simply the coordination of station keeping maneuvers with SatMex, which operates Solidaridad 2 at 113 degrees WL.
XM Radio Inc. filled an application to modify its authorization for its XM-3 satellite at 85 degrees WL to specify operation at 85.1- degrees WL with an East-West station keeping tolerance of +/- 0.5 degrees. XM-3 is authorized to use 2332.5-2345 MHz (space to Earth) for service links and X-band frequencies 7025-7075 MHz (Earth to space) for feeder links. XM Radio filed a similar application for the XM-2 satellite, requesting authority to operate at 115.10 degrees WL with an East-West station keeping tolerance of +/-0.05 degrees instead of at its authorized location at 115 degrees WL.

The DrecTV Group was granted authority to launch and operate its DIRECTV-11 Ka-band satellite at 99.2 degrees WL using 18.3-18.8 GHz (space-to-Earth), 28.35-28.6 GHz (Earth-to-space> and 29.25-29.5 GHz (Earth-to-space). DirecTV was also authorized to launch and operate its DIRECTV-10 Ka-band satellite at 102.8 degrees WL using the same frequencies as the DIRECTV-11 satellite.
SES Americom was granted STA to continue to operate the AMC-15 Ka-band payload and Ku-band TT&C at 117.0 degrees WL to March 15, 2005.
