Satellite Update - Oct. 31, 2008

The FCC granted PanAmSat Licensee Corporation's request to relocate Intelsat 5 from 26.15 degrees east longitude (EL) to 169 degrees EL and operate it at that location using uplink frequency bands 5925-6425 MHz, 14.0-14.25 GHz, and 12.75-13.25 GHz.

Authorized downlink frequency bands are 3700-4200 MHz, 10.7-10.95 GHz, 11.2-11.45 GHz, and 11.45-11.7 GHz. The FCC granted PanAmSat's request for waivers, as conditioned, allowing earth stations to use 11.45-11.7 GHz for domestic service.

As a result of this grant, PanAmSat's request for special temporary authority to drift Intelsat 5 was dismissed as moot.
