Satellite Update - Sept. 19 2008

FCC Report SAT-00554 listing actions taken by the FCC's International Bureau Policy Branch has a long list of withdrawn SES Americom satellite launch and operating authority applications. Most of these appear to be 17/24 GHz broadcast satellite service (BSS) applications.

XM Radio Inc. received special temporary authority (STA) to continue to operate satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS) terrestrial repeaters specified in the Consent Decree adopted July 25, 2008, that allowed the Sirius/XM Radio merger. The extension is valid for 30 days. Sirius XM Radio Inc. received similar STA for repeaters it listed in the Consent Decree.

Report SAT-00554 has an INFORMATIVE item noting that the several proceedings involving 17/24 GHz BSS applications have been designed "permit-but-disclose". See Report SAT-00554 and the FCC IBFS. Search on the call sign or application number for access to all filings.
