Scientific-Atlanta Gets Into Microsoft Set-top Game

published Scientific-Atlanta and Microsoft announced a joint effort to develop IPTV set-tops for initiatives that include SBC's Project Lightspeed.
The new Scientific-Atlanta IP set-tops will be integrated with the Microsoft TV IPTV Edition software platform and will support MPEG-4 Part 10/H.264 and VC-1. They will also have SD, HD and DVR capabilities, as well as "gateway products that can serve
an entire home with a single device," according to S-A. They will work over existing coax cable infrastructures, and support U.S. or international standards. The boxes will be on display at IBC.
