Scopus Network Technologies has unveiled its new Codico E-90 MPEG-2 encoder.
For video, the E-90 digital encoder accepts composite and component analog video inputs, and provides the option for SDI input, with NTSC auto aspect ratio and 10-bit A/D. With simultaneous high-speed and low-speed data processing, it can output video at a rate of up to 8Mb/s. The system’s 4:2:0 encoding profile allows real-time encoding at full D1 resolution through a variety of output interfaces. Its audio capabilities include up to two stereo or four mono channels with Dolby Digital (AC-3) 2.0 encoding and 5.1 pass-through.
With its DPI support, the E-90 incorporates digital cue tone insertion in compliance with the ANSI/SCTE 35 standard, which allows the splicing of MPEG-2 streams for digital program insertion. The system inserts tones into the output of the Scopus encoders that signal opportunities for content such as local advertising for injection into syndicated program streams.
