Scripps this week unveiled the new HGTV-HD channel at the National Cable Show in Atlanta, while the official launch of Food Network-HD is slated for early July. So soon it will be possible to watch people plant colorful gardens and eat mouth-watering food on a regular basis with HD clarity.
The HD delivery of both channels (which already enjoy good brand recognition) marks the latest effort in a recent strategic relationship between SES Americom and Scripps, which moved all of its networks (including Fine Living TV, DIY Network, and Great American Country) to HD-Prime Satellites (AMC-10 and AMC-11) last year.
HGTV-HD and Food Network-HD (try saying that out loud three times) will also feature shows from its sister channels. AMC-10 and AMC-11 are both C-band satellites, which operate from 135 and 131 degrees West longitude, respectively.
