SeaChange and DMDsecure have joined forces to offer telco and cable operators an integrated solution for securing and managing content rights access that enable new services for in-home video entertainment.
SeaChange International, maker of VOD systems, now supports content protection from DMDsecure. The integrated solution is aimed at providing operators with encryption protection for VOD content encoded with Microsoft’s Windows Media 9.
SeaChange’s MediaCluster-based VOD System provides streaming of broadcast quality, multi-format VOD streams over DSL, FTTH and HFC networks. DMDsecure’s open, interoperable DRM software protects digital content while creating, managing, delivering and enforcing rights. Licensing of content can be done in advance or at the time the content is viewed, with flexibility to adapt to individual business models required by each operator. Deploying these technologies together, operators can deploy VOD services in a protected environment, allowing them to secure rights to the best content for in-home viewing.

SeaChange and DMDsecure are employing Microsoft Windows Media 9 compression technology for delivering content over IP networks. The companies recently demonstrated their integrated solution for DRM with Windows Media 9 encoded VOD content at NAB2004 in Las Vegas.
