SFP Uses NTT for Tour de France
Société Française de Production (SFP) recently purchased an NTT Electronics Corp. H5000 Series HD MPEG-2 encoder/decoder for live broadcasting of sports events.
The H5000 is being used to broadcast the Tour de France, the largest cycling road race in the world, in HD.
SFP had been using an NTT Electronics H3000 Series HD MPEG-2 encoder/decoder since last year, when they used it to broadcast the Roland-Garros French Open tennis tournament live in HD.
SFP purchased two products: an HE5000 HD MPEG-2 encoder and an HD5000MPEG-2 HD decoder. They support 1080i, 720p, 480i and other image formats, and permit up to two system/eight-channel audio encoding. An optional BISS-1/E Scrambling function helps improve scrambling for satellite transmission.
