SignaSys hits the road
SignaSys, an engineering consultancy and systems integrator based in San Jose, Calif., announced its national road tour titled “TV Town Hall,” that will engage broadcasters in dialogue while discussing new technologies and innovative system designs at a series of local events.
On board the RV and at a facility near you, Boston will lead presentations and in-depth discussion on a number if topics, including: multichannel broadcasting; new facility topology, architecture and workflow.
Jim Boston, senior director of technology for SignaSys, will host the tour and visit over 30 cities in the northern U.S.; beginning at PBS station KIXE-TV, in Redding, Calif., on October 6 at 10:00 AM. Next stop is PBS member KFTS/KSYS, in Medford, Ore. on October 7.
Driving in a converted RV outfitted with multimedia equipment and a small amount of seating, Boston will visit numerous station facilities as well as coordinate with local SBE and SMPTE chapters to hold complementary events. He’ll finish in Albany, New York in late November, at a venue yet to be announced.
According to the company, the tour will be informational and also serve as research for a follow-up book to Boston's previous bestseller, DTV Survival Guide.
The TV Town Hall tour is directed at both public and commercial station personnel interested in the current state of the industry. It provides a forum for engineering and management staff to share their views on issues facing broadcasters today as well as what's next in the future of broadcasting.

Boston is a 25-year veteran of the TV industry, having held a variety of industry positions, from equipment maintenance technician, to board and system level design engineer. He’s also a former engineering manager at Scripps-Howard.
