Sinclair Broadcast Group sees retransmission revenue growth
Sinclair Broadcast Group said last week that it was revising its estimate for 2007 retransmission revenues from about $48 million to about $53 million in light of recent retransmission agreements.
The prior estimate included retransmission revenues based on anticipated deal terms with Comcast. The new estimate includes the final Comcast agreement terms, which were entered into March 9, as well as recent deals with some smaller independent cable companies. It does not include potential retransmission revenues from Charter or Cox, with which Sinclair is currently negotiating.
Sinclair president and CEO David Smith characterized the growth as a representation of "a shift in the retransmission consent paradigm."
